Marbleized my nails today with the help of this DIY video.

Two of my favorite kids came over our place tonight and we decided to bake something (something easy).
I got really good at baking bread over the past few years, but had to basically relearn how to bake when I found out about my gluten allergy early last year. Almost every time I bake I make up a new recipe in the hopes that I will find a bread that is satisfying to my former gluten loving self. Here’s what we tried tonight:

Instead of throwing away a worn out, once beloved pair of shoes, give them a new life. This is an easy DIY that anybody can do. I happened to have all of the materials on hand and I imagine you might have many of them as well. If not, all the materials are very inexpensive and easy to find.

Modular Dwelling designed by former graffiti artist Edgar Blazona. You can see the blueprint here to make your own. The site says this will only cost $1,500 in supplies, but I’m guessing you can get the materials for much less if you spend more time looking for second hand building materials at places like ReSource (hopefully there is something like this near where you live, this place is amazing.) I would like to build one of these as a studio, except I already have one. For the next place I live, perhaps.
Thanks to gospellicea and ordinairee for the laundry detergent recipes. They are as follows:
Ordinairee’s:
1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda, 1/4 bar zote grated with a fine cheese grater. Mix well. Materials all cost about $6. That mixture will give you about 30 washes. If you buy two bars of zote all the materials will give you 8 batches of 30 washes each.
Gospellicea’s:
Ingredients:
1 Quart Water (boiling) + 2 more gallons of room temp. water
2 cups bar soap (grated) [we use castile soap.]
2 cups Borax
2 cups “Super Washing Soda” (arm & hammer)
Heat one quart of water to a boil in a medium sized pan. Add finely grated soap to the boiling water and stir until it is melted. You can keep it on low heat while it melts.
Pour the soap water mixture into a large clean pail or 5 gallon bucket. Immediately add the Borax and washing soda and stir well until all is dissolved.
Add 2 gallons of room temperature water and stir again. Cover the pail/bucket and leave overnight. Wait until the soap has sat overnight before filling bottles.
For Scented Soap:
Add 10-15 drops of the essential oil of your choice.
Shake bottle before each use (it does separate while it sits.) Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup per load of laundry.
I will try them both out sometime next week and report back the results!
Also thanks to fusible and acertainsortof for giving me other ideas :)
